Ways to Pay
Cash is always welcome at our Farmers’ Markets, but did you know that there are other ways to pay, as well? All of our markets can accept debit cards and credit cards for those of us who don’t frequently carry cash. In addition, the market is proud to accept Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, available to customers at all markets. And this year, we’re more committed than ever to reaching out to Tulsans in need by announcing the continuation of the Double Up Food Bucks incentive for local SNAP recipients this year.
Since this privately funded program debuted, the market has been able to provide fresh fruits and vegetables to hundreds of Tulsans in need, because of the generous financial gifts from supporters like you. SNAP recipients can enjoy a 1:1 match for dollars spent at our market, up to $20 per visit, and DUFB are only good for fresh fruits and vegetables. More details on DUFB and our funding below.
A wireless transaction terminal is available at the market manager’s booth. After swiping a card through the machine, a customer will be given tokens that can be used to make purchases at individual vendors’ booths throughout the market. Debit card and credit card customers will be given GREEN tokens in $5.00 increments. Vendors are able to give change when necessary. There is a $1.00 service charge for using your debit or credit card, which helps to support and maintain the market.
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, formerly known as food stamps, are accepted at the Tulsa Farmers’ Market. A wireless EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) processing machine is available at the market manager’s booth. After swiping a card through the machine, a customer will be given tokens that can be used to make purchases at individual vendors’ booths throughout the market. SNAP customers will be given ORANGE tokens in $1.00 increments. Please note that vendors are not allowed to give change to customers using the SNAP tokens and that these tokens can only be used to purchase approved products.
Double Up Food Bucks has been wonderfully successful and an enormous endeavor, which prompts us to seek continuing community support. We need help in order to continue providing the Double Up Food Bucks incentive for our 2016 market season.
The Tulsa Farmers' Market has recently obtained a 501(c)3 tax status & individual tax deductible donations can now be submitted during any of our markets at the manager’s table, via check, or checks can be sent by mail. Please make sure to put “TFM Double Up Food Fund” in the memo line. Or simply, donate online below.
Many thanks for your support!
